Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Reduction is a more accurate description of what is commonly known as Laser Hair Removal. This treatment permanently reduces your hair, but does not remove it forever. Why? Well, your body continues to change. These changes can include hormone levels and possibly your weight, both of which can lead to new hair growth. Because of this, we recommended having an annual maintenance treatment plan to keep yourself hair-less and smooth.

Dr. Kate Kuhlman-Wood, a board-certified Plastic Surgeon, will verify your Laser Hair Removal treatment plan prior to beginning. Plastic Surgeons are among the select few medical specialties trained and tested in the use of advanced Laser Technology. As with any medical procedure, there are risks. Although rare, the risks and necessary precautions will be discussed in detail prior to your procedure.

Individual results may vary.

How hair is removed

A beam of "light" is concentrated into the hair follicle. The pigment in the follicle absorbs the light and, as a result, the hair is destroyed.

IPL Treatment

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light and is used to treat common patient concerns such as wrinkles, colored skin spots (including freckles), sun damage, unsightly veins (varicose + spider) and rosacea. IPL can also be effective for hair removal treatments.

IPL vs Laser Light

IPL and Laser both use “light” to treat. The difference? A Laser Treatment focuses only one wavelength of light at your skin, while an IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment releases light of many different wavelengths.

Tattoo Removal

Tattoo removal is accomplished by breaking up the particular colors of pigment (ink) with a high-intensity light beam (laser). The effectiveness of the procedure depends greatly on the pigments present in the tattoo. For example, Black tattoo pigment absorbs all laser wavelengths, making it the easiest color to treat. Other colors can only be treated by selected lasers based upon the pigment color. It is important to note that patients report being uncomfortable during tattoo removal. As with all laser procedures offered at THE SPA by Cd'A Plastic Surgery®, an initial consultation will address this and other concerns you may have.

How Tattoo Removal Works

The color of the tattoo's pigment is key to breaking up the ink. From there your body's natural mechanisms remove the broken particles.

Erbium Laser Resurfacing

The goal of an Erbium Laser Skin Resurfacing procedure is to remove fine lines and wrinkles to dramatically improve the appearance of skin. It achieves this goal by ablating the outermost layer of skin (epidermis) to reveal softer and more youthful skin below. In addition, Collagen production has been to shown to increase providing additional skin tightening and smoothing. Compared to the other type of Ablative Skin Resurfacing treatment that uses a CO2 laser, the Erbium Laser employs a controlled, “Erbium-doped,” solid-state pulsating beam in a manner that is less invasive (removes less of the epidermal layer of skin) and offers fewer side-effects, faster recovery and less pain than a CO2 laser.

Erbium Laser Skin Resurfacing is performed as an Outpatient procedure in our Riverstone Clinic’s Laser Treatment Suite by Dr. Kuhlman-Wood, a board-certified Plastic Surgeon. The procedure is performed under a local anesthetic. Prior to your procedure, Dr. Kuhlman-Wood will discuss your medical history, including previous surgeries, present and past health problems, medications, as well as nutritional and herbal supplements you are taking or have taken. She will perform a complete skin assessment and share with you the possible risks, expected outcomes, and if Erbium Laser Skin Resurfacing is the right procedure for you.

It is important to note that there will be a period of recovery following an Erbium Laser Skin Resurfacing Procedure. Dr. Kuhlman-Wood will outline the appropriate post-treatment care during your recovery stage necessary to achieving your optimal result.

Individual results may vary.
